Non matching samples nor time points

I am doctor in plant pathology and I currently work on the pathogenicity of a fungal pathogen on plant. I would like to ask you a question about mixOmix analysis. I performed transcriptomic analysis on plant sample infected by the fungi 24, 48, 60, 72 and 84 hours after inoculation. And I also performed proteomics analysis on plant infected by the same way, but sampled 36, 60, 72, 84 and 96 hours after inoculation (to analyse proteins synthetised around 12 hours after gene expression)

My question is : is it possible to perfome mixOmix analysis on data sets mesured at different moment (not the same time post inoculation) and from these two omics analysis ?

Guillaume

Dear Guillaume,

The best way would be to have a look at this paper and use the spline approach to interpolate the missing time points (the timeOmics package is now on bioC). The analysis would be across time though and relies on the assumption that the plant variance is small (we have a filtering step here).
I definitely advise you analyse each individual data set thoroughly first.
